I've got Metzeler ME880 tyres on my Savage and they are faultless. I can recommend them. They are one of the few tyres I could find in the original size for the rear - 140/80-15. Lots of manufacturers offer 140/90-15. Does it make any difference? I don't know. I just like to stick with standard sizes.
The ME880 tyre is not a radial. It is a tubeless tyre (most are) but as already said, a tube is needed to keep the air in because of all the spoke holes. You can tell the difference between tubeless and tube tyres by looking on the sidewall - it will say!
